From Bench to Impact: NeuroCoolX's Journey Through the IU LAB & gBETA Summer 2026 Accelerator
In Summer 2026, NeuroCoolX participated in the IU LAB Pre-Accelerator powered by gBETA gener8tor, a highly selective program designed to help researchers and entrepreneurs translate innovative technologies into real-world solutions. Co-founded by Dr. Lingxiao Deng and Dr. Gao, both faculty members at Indiana University School of Medicine, NeuroCoolX entered the program with a strong scientific foundation and a vision to improve outcomes for patients with acute neurotrauma.
For academic researchers, generating breakthrough science is only the first step. Bringing discoveries from the laboratory to patients requires a deep understanding of clinical needs, market dynamics, regulatory pathways, reimbursement strategies, intellectual property protection, and venture financing. The gBETA program provided invaluable mentorship and hands-on guidance in each of these areas, helping the NeuroCoolX team bridge the gap between academic innovation and commercial development.
Through customer discovery interviews, feedback from clinicians and industry experts, interactions with investors, and one-on-one mentoring sessions, the team refined its commercialization strategy and strengthened its vision for developing a novel pharmacological hypothermia platform for spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other acute neurological conditions.
The program culminated in the gBETA Showcase, where NeuroCoolX presented its progress and future vision to investors, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and community partners. The experience reinforced our commitment to transforming scientific discoveries into therapies that can make a meaningful difference for patients and families affected by devastating neurological injuries.
